Class # 5 - Petit Point in Miniature for Beginners

If you ever wondered what it takes to petit point in scale, this class is for you. This class is a hands-on introductory class for beginners. Students will learn how to frame silk gauze, what silk floss and needles to use for different counts, appropriate stitches, blocking, finishing.

Students will receive a kit: frame, silk gauze, needle, floss

Tools/Supplies needed: Sharp scissors, light, a magnifier (if needed).

2019 Chicago International Dollhouse Miniatures Show

“Christmas Stockings of Joy!" is a fun and relaxed technique and hands-on workshop for all levels. The students will be provided with all sufficient materials to leave the class with a finished and stuffed petit point Christmas stocking that could be displayed in their favorite setting to celebrate the holiday season or given as a gift to bring happiness. Stitches, floss, and needles are included. Tips on a neat backside and finishing techniques will be taught during this workshop. It's recommended that the students bring sharp scissors and magnifying glasses.

If you ever wondered what you need to start Petit Point in miniature, then this introductory class is for you. Stitches, silks, needles, silk gauze, frames, and tips will be provided for your first successful project.

Christmas is coming to town.


Santa is peaking into the frosty window of our house that is surrounded by evergreen trees.

The golden stars are shining bright in the dark blue sky, bringing the Christmas spirit and joy into our life.


Using 7 different stitches ( French Knots, Eyelet Stitch, Smyrna Stitch, Elongated Smyrna Stitch, Satin Stitch, Continental Tent Stitch and Cross Stitch) the students will learn how to use silk gauze as a mini canvas. Students will try different cotton and silk floss of their choice. A stitched piece could be finished as a pillow, a canvas stretched on a needlework stand, or as a wall picture.


This fun workshop offers an additional pattern, materials and instructions on how to stitch and finish matching pair of Christmas slippers.

Art of Petit Point in Miniature (for beginners)


For some people Petit Point in miniature seems to be intimidating. Here is a unique invitation into the magical world of miniature needlepoint. This class is a thorough guide to the design, materials, and techniques that transform the dollhouse miniatures hobby into artistic craft.


From discoveries made during many years of miniature needlework experience, the instructor directs you to the materials (silk gauze, needles, cotton and silk floss, etc...), equipment, tools and designs. The class offers basic, easy-to-follow instructions; explains and illustrates in pictures the ways of treating silk gauze, framing it, stitches that are used in miniature needlepoint, the finishing techniques.


Each student will receive a kit "Hunter" to practice their skills on 40 count silk gauze. The kit includes all sufficient supplies to finish the picture. Finishing the project at class is unlikely.

Level: beginners

Students need to bring: embroidery scissors; additional light, magnifier, if needed.

$95 (including the price of a kit and a stitching frame)

Wooden picture frame NOT included.

WORKSHOP SYNOPSIS: The student will learn 4-way Bargello in Miniature using fine silk. The finished design can be framed and used as a wall hanging, or put together as a pillow.

#4 - Decorative Stitches In Miniature Needlework

WORKSHOP SYNOPSIS: The students will learn the use of different decorative stitches in miniature needlepoint, making a Christmas pillow depicting Santa Claus picking through the window and surrounded with the green Christmas trees and gold stars in the dark blue sky.
